Insight on Carnegie Mellon (CMU) Adealide, Australia - AusAID 2010

Carnegie Mellon is top private university in Pittsburgh and is consistently ranked in top 25 US universities.

Overall Adeladie Program

Carnegie Mellon (CMU) has other major campuses in Qatar, UAE and Adelaide, Australia. The benefit for Australian campus is that you get exactly the same degree as you would have gotten if you were in Pittsburgh, US. I dont know about degree that is awarded in Qatar whether it also comes from Pittsburgh or not. Another advantage for Australian campus is that the same course is shorter in duration because there is no summer break. Actually weather in Adelaide is mostly lovely so there is not need for such vacations.

Currently there are two programs which are offered in Adealide campus

Master of Science in Public Policy and Management (MSPPM)
Master of Science in Information Technology (MSIT)

Both of these programs have extraordinary ranking worldwide. Currently I think MSIT is ranked No1. and MSPPM is ranked No.4

CMU Aus-AID 2010

Finally, Aus-AID for year 2010 is now open!!! You should apply for this scholarship as soon as possible. I say this because first one has to secure admission to CMU Adelaide and then you are considered for CMU Aus-Aid. It better to apply as early as April or May of 2009. Admission decesion arrives in about 2-3 months like in July and Aus-AID decesion can come by around August. Usually it takes 3 months to get Student visa for Australia. So overall its a tight call. So earlier you apply better it will be for you. CMU admission now encourages candidates to apply asap.

Regarding GRE; Well you dont actually have to submit GRE scores for admission rather prove of registration is sufficient provided its within acceptable time. Generally If you are on AusAID TOFEL can work for you rather than IELTS. But to be on safe side you can give IELTS. Try to get atleast 1200 in GRE and 90 in TOFEL IBT.
